Something to Quickly Address

It has been some time since we last met here. Recently I was advised to not just start writing again as though nothing had happened and no time had gone by so reluctantly, in some sense, here I am. I won’t drone on or bore anyone because I know a lot of you have been active on my other accounts and social medias (thank you for that and all of your support). As far as this site goes, I haven’t made a lot of my articles live recently and I apologize for that.

I feel like many people at various times in their careers have these moments where they step away and maybe come back and fourth etc etc - so this must have been one of those times for me. I’ve moved, I’ve struggled with some massive health scares, and my life has started to take a different shape lately. Not that this means I am any different to the things I’ve spoke upon before or that I’m a radically different human - I just went through some life things and that’s ok.

Please, if you feel like commenting or reaching out to me do not hesitate. I love that I can share so much yet keep things personal when need be. Talking about my passions and connecting with you all is one of the most special aspects of my life. I look forward to moving forwards so let’s get to it, shall we?

Why Millennials are Marching

In the past four months there is undoubtably more marches than there have been in quite a long time. Now, we could talk politics and rant on about terms, but that's not the point of this. Something incredible is happening amongst all the unrest and tension. People. Are. Marching.

People from all colors, creeds, and backgrounds are taking to the streets to stand for their rights and the rights of others (even the rights of the environment). There have been some incredible things that have happened to unite groups of people together and I'm not just talking about the Woman's March (although that was very important). Millennials in particular are getting in on the action that once seemed a far off history fact of the 50s and 70s. Those that were around during those times are seemingly not thrilled about marching again, but the Gen X have taken action.

It's a powerful thing to witness when there are very young individuals who are standing for things that they are actually INFORMED about. It's not some light topic or some unrest about a pizza shop closing - it's about rights and necessity. I have spoken to a handful of these individuals and there seems to be one common factor. They want a voice and they're going to share it until they are heard.

Millennials have come to be the generation that can do things faster, bigger, and potentially with more passion than others might imagine. Once thought to just be the generation with their heads in their phones (although this stereotype still hangs on) there are been some great strides and accomplishments. The "kids" are getting stuff done.

There are countless stances to take whether you're opposing or supporting a given topic. In the coming weeks I am touching on a few of these again and would love to hear more input aside from my own research and interviews. However, if you are here to spread hate and have no inquiries or details to add I ask you to take your comments elsewhere. I know this thing is unavoidable in most cases, but you've been asked nicely...for now.

What are some of the marches you have been part of? Fear not - my March for Science shirt is on it's way in the mail even after I marched around Denver.

Re-Establish a Bond

"...I'm getting a flight and coming out there."

Losing friends and becoming distant from those you once held close are some of the hardest parts of life. Fleeting moments that are gone too soon are sometimes the only constant we have. However, if we're lucky our journeys tangle with others for awhile and things are less lonely. This woman here, Andrea Behling, is a perfect example of someone who I have been very lucky to keep in my life. From playing volleyball together in college, to roaming about Colorado and talking about our next adventures I am beyond grateful for the times we've had.

It had been years since we'd seen each other, but we picked up like we had just hung out the previous weekend. These connections and moments can be so refreshing. The times where you and another individual talk consistently until you part ways. The times where you laugh so hard that it makes your stomach hurt. The times when things seem easier, even if only for a little while.

I wanted to share some photos that Andrea and I took throughout her time visiting. We went to a couple of locations and she made my job a breeze. If this made you think of someone who you haven't seen in awhile I urge you to contact them. Reaching out for a friend or loved one can never be a bad thing.

After all, don't you want to laugh until you cry?
